[Edifice Review] EFS-S530L-2 — strict and very practical with sapphire and solar battery

Due to my love of watches, I often have to give advice about the choice. In the world of Casio models, this is not so easy, because not everyone understands that Casio is not only a watch for $ 20 and impact-resistant G-Shock [oh yes, there are still tourist ProTrek with a compass]. There is another segment of consumers who in principle do not care. They are not tied to the brand, but just looking for a watch, if not for all occasions, then for many of them. For such an audience, I always have a wonderful blank – look towards the Edifice lineup. And not to the flagship level, but to go down to the segment of arrow options. There you will find a lot of nice series, but today we’ll talk about the EFS-S530L-2 in a traditional and detailed blog review.

EFS-S530 is just good. You look at them and understand that men’s watches of a business [and maybe not very] man should look just like that.

This is not a huge “washer” on the wrist, and not ultra-thin – such a medium size. The model is clearly visible on the hand, however, and does not “kill” with its appearance.

The design of the watch is made without pathos colors, materials, etc. – just a bright metal case, which is complemented by metal hour markers, hands, accents of additional functional windows on a blue jeans background [this is my understanding of jeans color, so do not take it seriously].

And, you know, this is enough for a watch to be harmonious. The metal image is also practical – it is not overwritten, scratches are not so visible. Speaking of scratches … Every watch owner often faces the problem of small scratches on the glass. The EFS-S530 solved this problem rather clumsily – they supplied the watch with sapphire crystal. Frankly, I did not expect to see sapphire in watches of this class. What am I talking about? What class? Well, these are definitely not flagships, the watch does not have smart technologies, separate engines, etc. Only after analyzing the Edifice lineup I realized that the Japanese sometimes make such simple [outwardly hours], but with nice additions.

If someone does not know, sapphire crystal is very difficult to scratch at home, the glass only suffers from a very strong blow and, as a rule, cannot be restored. In fact, a very practical solution for which you will have to pay extra [the clock rises in price immediately].

In addition to sapphire crystal, EFS-S530 boasts another practical opportunity – solar power. Now my review is getting a new turn. I started writing about the series as a simple watch, but solar power and sapphire are a little contrary to understand the words “simplicity”. Let’s just say that I deliberately do not delve into the particular hours before writing and keep my agenda as new chips are identified. Having pulled the watch from the box, he did not expect such a development of events. The appearance really does not give out such serious advantages in the watch, that’s why the EFS-S530 surprised me.

So, solar power … The presence of a solar panel on the main display with which the battery is charged is a mega-practical technology. Being the owner of a solar-powered watch, I don’t think about changing the battery at all. They just live their own lives and you don’t need to somehow charge them specifically. There is enough daylight, the main thing is not to close the clock in a dark box for more than six months. If you look closely at the bottom window, you can find an additional scale with the indices “L, M, H”. Thus, the manufacturer hints at the possibility of checking the charge level.

In the official instructions, it was not possible to find this treasured combination of buttons [perhaps I missed it, but reviewed it several times], but the review experience proved to be – we hold down the lower right button for a few seconds and the stopwatch hand moves to the letter “H”, which means High – high charge . It will be cool if I thought of such an application for myself, but in reality everything is different)).

Since I have already begun to describe the functional part, I will continue to explain additional windows. Everything is primitive here and this is not surprising: the lower window starts the stopwatch, the retrograde scale at the 10-hour mark counts the minutes of the stopwatch [to 10], and the window at 3 hours displays the time in 24-hour format. Two buttons respond to the stopwatch: the upper one starts and pauses, the lower one resets. It would seem that a sapphire glass and solar powered watch should have an automatic calendar, but no. The calendar is ordinary, which means that a little discomfort of manual correction will be present so that the small date window always shows the correct numbers.

At first, the appearance drove me to the budget segment, but with each new deepening in the details, the watches began to show their secretive and chic features. Sapphire crystal and solar power will definitely make you close your eyes to the lack of an automatic calendar and may become key in making the final decision.
