For many people, doing sports is not just one of the activities to achieve certain goals, but also such a hobby, during which the body exerts itself physically, but rests morally. If before you had to use hand-held stopwatch, timers, measure the distance traveled with the help of special tools, today technical progress has stepped far forward – now all the necessary functions are right on hand, in this case, in a Casio watch. Today we will look at Baby-G BSA-B100-1A – one of the representatives of the latest generation of running Japanese watches [G-Squad] with a “smart” filling.

The BSA-B100 Series

It’s nice, you know, to realize that the Japanese are promoting in their products not only men’s sports, but also women’s. The guys from Casio are so closely involved in the development of the G-Shock running direction, that it would seem that they completely forgot about the cute girls who also play sports . Yes, the Baby-G line has the same BGS-100, but you must admit that modern watches without synchronization with a smartphone will no longer succeed in the market, these are the realities.

Now about the design. Yes, the running component is clearly in the first place here, but you can still feel some elements of the classics that have nothing to do with sports. Firstly, the color scheme – all current representatives of the BSA-B100 series are made in calm matte colors. There are no bright green straps or transparent buttons. Secondly, the golden hour markers and hands – gold does not fit the sport. Another thing comes to mind – wearing a watch in various life situations [including even business style]. No, well, the truth is, impact-resistant Baby-Gs are increasingly looking like more elegant, but less durable Sheen, while remaining inaccessible to most mechanical influences.

Personally, I was very impressed with the strap – it is very thin and narrow [16 mm wide], and it is unlikely that it has become less reliable from this. A plastic single-tooth clasp, although it does not really inspire confidence, but it is much lighter than steel – an important factor for the female half.

The case and dial in the traditional round design is a win-win option for rational placement of all necessary elements on the display. Nothing revolutionary here – ana-DJ format with arrows and electronic windows does an excellent job of displaying data. But I’m sure readers are more interested in another aspect – the internal one, namely the operation of Bluetooth synchronization.

I’ll say right away that I didn’t look at any instructions, I just downloaded the Baby-G Connected proprietary application, which immediately suggested how to connect to the clock – you need to hold down the Start button for 2 seconds. The process of registering a watch took literally 10 seconds – everything is very simple and fast.

For what I appreciate the wireless synchronization, it’s for the maximum convenience of settings – for each of the watch modes there is a detailed diagram of all the watch buttons and their settings.

The application recalls the ability of the watch to count the steps taken with the help of a three-axis pedometer sensor and convenient visualization of the dynamics of movements by day and by hour.

Profile settings – you need to select key parameters [height, weight and age] for the correct calculation of the level of metabolism and the intensity of training. I leave it as it is.

The daily goal of steps is set at 10,000 steps by default. The percentage of completion of the goal is displayed on a pie chart, and there is a column below it – for hourly fixing the number of steps. Here you can also find the number of calories spent per day – the total indicator consists of basal metabolism [the amount of energy needed to maintain vital systems of the body depends on previously entered growth and weight parameters] and the energy spent on training [or just walking around the house ]. Regarding the accuracy of these indicators, alas, I can not say anything – there is nothing to compare with.

While moving in the arc window at the 2 o’clock position, the step indicator flashes, thereby indicating the start of step counting. The second row in the same window shows the percentage of completion of the daily norm. If the daily norm is reached, an indicator in the form of a flag will appear in the bottom window.

Activity reminder [Step Reminder] can be enabled both with the help of the clock and in the application [the second option is more convenient]. This is such a thing that will remind you of the need to move in order to achieve the daily goal.

Stopwatch and timer are combined into one section. For the stopwatch, you can set the target time [up to 10 values], and the difference between the actual and target lap times will be displayed in the application. A 200 lap memory is more than enough for even the longest runs. For each record, the date and time are stored – you do not need to record anything or record it in a notebook. The measurement accuracy, although not the highest [1/100 of a second], but this is quite enough.

A timer with separate intensity zones is a godsend for interval training enthusiasts. Before us is a detailed setup of each of the zones depending on the particular training – each zone has its own name and is displayed on a pie chart. The zone has changed – the intensity of the exercise [or the exercise itself] is changing, and the clock already knows in advance about the time of each zone. Auto-repeat of the full cycle up to 20 times is possible. While the timer is running, you can skip the current zone by starting the next one by pressing the Adjust button.

Alarms [BSA-B100 has 5 of them], world time for 300 cities are also perfectly configured in the application without additional. instructions – all on an intuitive level.

The backlight [activated by a separate narrow button on the front of the case] is very personal here – the analog zone and digital windows are separately illuminated. Reading time at night is a pleasure.

The watch has a 2-years battery. Could already put the solar, given the presence of a Bluetooth module, which no matter how eats a charge.

Well, and a couple of pictures:

Conclusion

BSA-B100-2A did not become a technological breakthrough in the field of sports gadgets – exactly the same functionality we have already seen in the GBA-800 and GBD-800. But at the same time, it is very pleasing that the Japanese popularize women’s sports as well as men’s. The small case contains all the running capabilities of its “older brothers” – a pedometer with a daily goal and activity tracking, a stopwatch with adjustable target time and an interval timer with separate intensity zones for a more productive workout. Not to mention other nishtyak, which carries Bluetooth-synchronization with the phone – first of all, it is a convenient setting of the watch functions and visualization of sports achievements.
