Recently, I wanted to move away from the topic of serious watches and take for review something simple, but at the same time worthy of attention. Fortunately, Casio has such a wide range of models that the choice was not long in coming. Today we will talk about female Baby-G BGD-560-4A, which can still be called a novelty, because appeared relatively recently in our market [in Japan since October]
The past material on this series only superficially touched on the moments of design and color solutions. But as they say – it is better to see once than hear a hundred times. In my case, I rephrase a little – it’s better to touch it once)).
The first thing I want to say right away is the matte finish of the case and strap. Moreover, “dullness” is not quite ordinary [like with other watches], it seems that the improved processing technology of polyurethane. The manufacturer, as usual, is in no hurry to share the details of its developments, so it remains only to speculate. If you compare with my GA-110-1B [also as if matte], then the material is slightly different to the touch. If a rough strap feels rough, albeit insignificant, then here it is not at all.
The square building represents Japanese minimalism. Do you think only men like this form? It wasn’t there, my wife, seeing the BGD-560 and holding them in her hands for literally 5 seconds, immediately became very passionate about buying herself [though she already has two other Baby-G models]. What are they so attracted to?
The first and most important thing is of course the color scheme. Pale pink is definitely the perfect option for the summer season. Yes, and some natural “magnetism” of the weaker sex to this color has a place to be. One would like to draw an analogy with wildflowers and a light summer dress. Even if it’s not summer now, but winter is in full swing, but no one forbids you to dream about the warm season.
The second is the style of the case and its size. Design in the spirit of the iconic 5600s G-Shock makes itself felt. Each part of the case seems to be in its native place, and to remove at least something means to completely corrupt the integrity of the image. Since we are talking about size, I’ll say for sure – the watch is not just small, it is tiny, or even tiny. In any case, it seemed to me from my male side. 44.7 × 40 × 12.5mm, to be precise. An idea is immediately born in my head – why not carry the BGD-560 to the younger generation, because many models of the Baby-G line are positioned as children too.
In truth, it wasn’t even easy for me to hit the buttons with my fingers, they are so small. Although the spouse did not have such problems.
The edging around the digital display [to call the bezel language does not turn] is pink, like the case itself, but a little darker to create at least some contrast. By the way, pink in this watch is almost everything except the display itself and, perhaps, the clasp. A case with a protruding design over the electronic dial to protect the glass from impacts – everything is as it should be. Despite its size, the case in its impact resistance should not be inferior to at least other larger baby boys, and maybe even G-Shock-s.

The strap is standard polyurethane with good flexibility and sufficient length for wrists of different sizes. But, alas, the watch did not work on my hand [and why?]. Metal clasp and durable polyurethane holder provide comfortable wearing.
Let’s go through the functions. The BGD-560 does not have expensive features [there is neither solar power, nor radio synchronization, etc.], but, like any representative of the digital division, it has a stopwatch, a countdown timer for 24 hours, 5 alarms, world time and a calendar [fully automatic].
The stopwatch is not very capacious – it can measure a maximum of an hour. Accuracy is good, 1/100 of a second is enough for most everyday tasks. It is activated by pressing the Search button in stopwatch mode [which can be accessed using the Mode button]. Measures elapsed time, split time [individual segments] and can fix two finishes.
The dial is illuminated using an electroluminescent panel: any information, even in complete darkness, is read with a bang.
Water resistant is about 200 meters [you can safely swim and dive] – in the best traditions of Casio. The battery is designed for 3 years, provided that the backlight works once a day [1.5 seconds] and 10 seconds of the alarm sound. Well, you understand, if you do not use the backlight or use it rarely, then the battery life increases.
Conclusion
BGD-560-4A was pleasantly surprised by the matte finish of the case and strap, as well as the delicate and feminine pink color, evoking longing for the summer season. The size of the watch leaves no doubt in its potential audience: it is equally suitable for both women and children. The functional set, albeit simple, but even these functions are unlikely to be used to the full. Men, take a note – all the more so, it’s a women’s holiday soon, and you still need to look for the best gift for your beloved [wife, girl, daughter].
