Women’s watches with a pronounced sports focus are extremely rare in Casio. Of course, you can just take the direction of Baby-G and find sports functions, but this is more about adapting the existing functional set to your needs, rather than using profile features. And so, only in 2017, the world saw the first truly sports series BGA-240. Well, let’s study the BGA-240-7AER model in detail in a traditional blog review.

We learned about the new product in February 2017, after which four more news appeared, where the fifth will be a real review. You probably haven’t noticed, but the speed of the series on our market is faster than ever. Sometimes you have to wait at least six months, but here they managed much earlier. The reason is obvious – the BGA-240 has good potential in terms of good sales. Watches are inexpensive [$ 160], sports, feminine. Are there any other options on the market? I don’t think so …

Girls with sports hobbies should appreciate the excellent readability of both the analog display of time and electronic. Despite its amazing compactness, the dial is absolutely not overloaded. Knowing the Japanese love of congestion, here they clearly restrained themselves.

Immediately drew attention to the black button [bottom right], which seems to stand out against a white background. Well, that’s all, I think, this is probably a quick activation and transition to the stopwatch mode. After all, the watch is about sports, which means that the functions of quick sports access should be nearby. Not. Looked closely, the black button is called not “Start”, but “Search”. Pressing switches me to the 12 hour display mode of the current time. Such a fast function for myself, as for me. Anyway, the word “Search” in a watch without radio synchronization is not very relevant, do not you think?

In stopwatch mode, the black button still returned to my predicted functional place and really starts / stops counting. The stopwatch is pretty advanced [unsurprisingly]. I consider it my duty to clearly understand its capabilities. Let’s go…

You can measure elapsed time, lap time and the so-called split. Lap times and “splits” are saved if necessary in the internal memory of the watch. The opportunity is not new, but convenient [study your progress after training].

Lap Time [Lap Time] – a specific piece of time from point A to point B [usually the travel time of one lap in a stadium].

Split time means taking into account the time from the beginning to a certain point [which you yourself consider necessary].

In the stopwatch mode, two electronic windows work: upper and lower. Depending on the type of activity [lap time or split], the dials display different values. Select the type of activity in stopwatch mode using the upper left button. Pay attention to the left side of the dial: the inscription LAP and SPLIT identify what type of data you will measure [the mode in which the black electronic mark is placed] is considered active in stopwatch mode.

Consider the lap mode. As soon as you start the stopwatch, the two dials display the same information. This moment even confused me – why show similar data? But this is only the starting time the same, then it will not be so. When crossing the first lap, you hold down the “Adjust” button [the watch understands that this is the time of the first lap and writes information to its small memory] and run on. The stopwatch stops for a few seconds [captures information], but the time is calculated further. Now in the upper window you see the time of your second lap, and the bottom shows the total time spent on the race. You understand, the third or fifth circle [99 in total, but only 60 entries in the memory] works in a similar way.

Split time mode. We activate it before using the stopwatch. Then a similar principle works as when measuring lap time. It is unclear why separate two [essentially] identical functions? In the first version, we call this the lap time, in the second – the split time.

In the countdown timer, the auto-repeat function pleased: every 5 minutes, for example, you will hear a signal [until you turn off the timer].

Setting the main arrows is also not difficult. The rule does not work here: what electronic data, such and switch. You will need to switch to “HS” mode and adjust the arrows yourself if necessary. The arrows rotate only in one direction; you cannot move them back.

Okay, let’s leave the electronic functions. We figured out the stopwatch, and alarms, a calendar and other features seemed to be self-evident.

The appearance of the watch focuses on a pretty sport.

The strap, by the way, is with ordinary polyurethane, however, a sufficient number of holes ventilates the wrist from active perspiration.

Pleasantly surprised and grabbing the links on the back of the strap – another component for more convenient use.

The backlight is a regular [yellow] LED at 6 o’clock. Not the brightest solution, but in the dark, you can consider both arrows and electronic windows. Pleased with the automatic activation, depending on the viewing angle.

Conclusion

The BGA-240-7A [as well as the whole series] did not surprise mega with advanced sports capabilities, although this is, as it were, their profile. Lap time, split time, solid measuring capacity – this is a typical representative of Casio electronic watches. The external style, of course, differs from the relatives in the workshop: compactness, elegance and elegance are visible in each element of the watch. The batteries last for three years, which is also enough [with solar power would be more interesting]. Nevertheless, watches can and should be used in sports.
