About the Watch in Short. Renovation of the cult case with a digital display in the form of three round windows and the main electronic display. The series pays tribute to the past of the high-impact direction of G-Shock, which appreciated the old-school design and Japanese minimalism. Functional windows borrowed from the DW-6900 series – one of the best-selling cases among the G-Shock. They display the auxiliary functions of the clock – the state of the alarm, the sound of pressing buttons, an hourly beep, etc. The basic information is displayed in the large bottom window – there you can see the work of the stopwatch, timer, alarm, world time and calendar. In the dark, a display backlight is provided – bright and pleasing to the eye.

Enjoy our G-Shock DW-5900 Watch Review

Honestly, I am delighted not so much with the DW-5900BB-1ER themselves, as with their color performance – coal-black is unlikely to leave anyone indifferent. Such “blackness” is often associated with secrecy, which is especially useful in military affairs. In principle, any dzhishoka in a completely black version can be counted as a military watch [this is the nature of the G-Shock], but there clearly has its zest – apart from the “three-eyed” zone, there is also a separate window of irregular shape that complements the old-school image. The display substrate is slightly lighter than the base color – so as not to merge with other elements of the body. Read Full Review →

Feedback from Users *accumulated information from our own comments and emails, forum threads, socials, reviews, etc.

PROs
+ old school and tough
+ comfortable
+ sporty looking
+ the original 5900 has the back cover screwed in, and the case was also made of resin
+ nice looking watch
+ the new features added are cool, like the backlight and the new functions associated with the central display
+ it’s not the most practical G for the money, but it’s retro cool
+ it fits better than a square or a 6900, and the strap is flexible and comfortable

CONs
– no dual time
– they remove the side eyes original functions. Now this model contains a useless, purely decorative display
– numbers are a little bit small, but as you said this watch its all about the looks
– no original screw back in stainless steel

Feedback from Experts *based on comparison info with similar watches by price, model range, etc.

PROs
+ hourly Time Signal
+ affordable price
+ 5 daily alarms (with 1 snooze alarm)
+ 29 time zones world time
+ 5 years battery

CONs
– no Radio-controlled feature
– no Auto-Back Light
– no Data Memory
– not so small 51.4×46.8×15.5 mm

Enjoy Japanese Unique Features in DW-5900!

*some images are about G-Shock 5000/5600 cases, but the technology, approaches, concepts and philosophy remains the same for the whole G-Shock Model Range

Hollow case structure. Based on a realization that “shocks are not transmitted inside a bouncing rubber ball,” the structure was designed to let the module float inside the case, relieving shocks transmitted from outside. Today, the module’s shock resistance is realized through further technical innovations. But the revolutionary tough structure that gave G-SHOCK its origin began here.

All-directional covering. If the watch is dropped, the protruding bezel fully enclosing it absorbs the shock, protecting the buttons directly connected to the module and alleviating shocks from all directions. The bezel also guards the surface of the crystal. The band is curved stiffly at the point of connection with the case, moreover, enabling it to serve as a shock absorber and prevent direct shocks to the back of the case.

Protective cushioning of key parts. The crystal oscillator and other critical parts inside the module are guarded individually by cushioning material. Any strong shock to the watch causes immediate distortion of the cushioning inside the module, preventing contact failure and malfunction.

Japan Quality. Constructed with genuine quality, CASIO products provide truly practicable applications in which functionality and beauty combine. The leading-edge LSI technologies and skilled craftsmanship that give life to CASIO watches exemplify the quality Japan boasts in the world marketplace.
For CASIO, “faith in manufacturing” refers to an inexorable advancement of digital technologies and an uncompromising commitment to fine craftsmanship. This faith engenders unparalleled performance that not only elevates CASIO watches as close as possible to perfection, but that actually changes their wearers’ lifestyles.
